Text of My Speech

I am not very shy, nor am I ready to perform for the president. I haven’t swum in the Olympics, ran any marathons, or biked across the country. My life isn’t very different every day, but that is not to say it will be unimportant. I haven’t decided upon a dream that I would die if left unachieved, but I’m sure that in retrospect I will see the starting of some bold ones.

My name is Hailey T and I am a freshman in high school. These past few weeks have gone by so quick, only coming to show how important it is to be on top of your work! For this year, I have decided, that I will be turning over a new leaf; my procrastination problems will be no more! This year I am planning on having at least a 4.0 continuously throughout these 4 years of high school. I know myself and that if I try, I mean really try, that dream will become reality.

The coastal scene that is cradling my college endeavors lies as a permanent landmark on my future horizon. To achieve that goal, my focus lies in developing my strength of character as well as my academic abilities. My personality also has to be up to the college standards, so that I have the mind-set of being optimally chosen. These are the qualities that a college-seeking student must strive to achieve.

On the thought of being well-rounded, I must follow and develop my interests. Music is something of a hobby of mine. To me, it’s a great way to spend any free time, and my goal is to keep educated in the new bands, singers, songs and all the other things involved. I want to learn about old bands, new bands, and even the old bands with new songs. A sweet break from the endless stack of homework, music keeps me feeling balanced.

In my remaining time at high school I want to keep a steady, and hopefully not dramatic, social life. Friends are great to have, fun to be with, and distracting in serious matters; but still, I love mine to death. I’m hopeful that I will keep my old ones, cherish my new ones, and look out for the ones I have not met. Friends provide a steady shoulder to lean on in times of need and growth. High school is a whirlwind of new experiences and self exploration and I’m so happy to have begun my journey!
